Aurora Adventure First Aid and CPR (Youth Program)
Aurora Adventure First Aid and CPR is a specialized program developed by Aurora Training Corp in response to requests from parents and students for additional first aid training.
Adventure First Aid is intended for youths age 11-15 who have either taken our other youth programs previously (Safety Patrollers, Stay Safe or Babysitting) and would like further first aid training, or for first time attendees.
Topics covered include:
- The Red Cross
- Preparing to Respond and The EMS System
- Check, Call, Care
- Breathing and Circulation Emergencies (includes asthma and anaphylaxis)
- CPR and AED
- Bleeding, Wounds and Burns
Additional topics may be added depending on time, prior knowledge, and skill mastery of the participants. Depending on weather, some of the skill practice may take place outside.
Certification: There are two options to complete the Adventure First Aid course.
Option #1: 100% attendance in the class, demonstration of a mature and responsible attitude, willingness to work as a team, and completion of skills practice to receive an Aurora Adventure First Aid Certificate of Participation. (Recommended for younger students.)
Option #2: 100% attendance in the class, demonstration of a mature and responsible attitude, willingness to work as a team, and completion of skills to receive an Aurora Adventure First Aid Certificate of Participation. Completion of a closed-book multiple-choice test and completion of a skills test to receive a 3-year Canadian Red Cross CPR AED level C Certificate. (Recommended for older students - some upper body strength is needed to complete the CPR skills test.)
