First Aid Instructor Recertification (Red Cross)
Virtual delivery course run via Zoom. Please check your time zone if you are outside of Alberta.The First Aid and CPR Instructor Renewal Course is facilitated by experienced Canadian Red Cross Instructor trainers. To qualify for registration, the following criteria must be met:
- Alberta instructors must have taught the minimum 2 courses per year in the past three years, including Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid Recert.
- Instructors from outside of Alberta must meet their provincial legislation and Red Cross standards for minimum teaching requirements (generally 3 courses per 3 year certification period).
- All Red Cross instructor updates must be completed prior to course registration. If you do not know what this means, please discuss this with your Red Cross regional representative;
- You must have a current Canadian Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor Certificate
Pre-course work will be required as well as presentation of proof of prerequisites.
2020 Recertification Update: all Red Cross instructors are required to take a 4-hour Recertification Hub containing Professional development – technology (Boulevard) and case-based learning. First Aid discipline instructors also take a 4 hour Core Discipline Specific course which focuses on clinical content. If you are registering for only the Core component, you will need to send proof of completion of the Hub.
To complete your First Aid Instructor Recertification, you need to take BOTH the Hub and Core components.
