First Aid Instructor - Transfer Program Option 1
Who should take this training? The Instructor Transfer Pathway is designed for Instructor candidates who have instructional experience with another recognized program/agency, such as St John Ambulance or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Our Instructor Transfer Pathway recognizes your current and past training/experience and gives you a fast track to certification as an Instructor with the Red Cross. As a Red Cross Instructor you can apply to work for an established Red Cross Training Partner or support in-house training for your company or organization,
What are the prerequisites?
- 18 Years of Age
- Current Instructor level certification with another recognized program
- Red Cross participant level certification in the discipline you wish to teach
- Complete a skills evaluation
Each of the completion criteria of the Instructor Development Program must be met; however, candidates receive recognition for some learning components gained through previous experience.
Step 1: Check prerequisites and skills evaluation
Step 2: Online Fundamentals of Instruction (7-8 hours)
Step 3: Classroom Fundamentals of Instruction (14 hours)
Step 4: Discipline-Specific - may receive credit for prior certification, please contact us to confirm prior to registering
Step 5: Teaching Experience - 45-min online course followed by up to 3 attempts to complete a teaching experience with the support of a Teaching Experience Supervisor
On completion of the above steps you will be certified as a Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
