Basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid that covers material in Standard First Aid & CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. Course also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Suitable for those who work or live in remote locations or who are outdoor recreation enthusiasts.
**Important Note: This course is recognized by Alberta OHS as a substitution for Standard First Aid CPR AED C for workplace first aid purposes. For a list of approved courses, visit https://work.alberta.ca/documents/approved-firstaid-training-courses.pdf - this course is listed under "Canadian Red Cross". This means you don't need to take a Standard First Aid course AND Wilderness.
Duration - 20 hours; flexible scheduling options
Completion requirements - 100% attendance, skills performance, and 75% passing grade on exam
